Thidiazuron Induced In Vitro Clonal Propagation of Lagerstroemia speciosa (L.) Pers.—An Important Avenue Tree

A high throughput regeneration protocol has been developed for Lagerstroemia speciosa through node explants under the regime of various plant growth regulators (PGRs). This can provide an alternative mode to seed-grown plants and minimize cost–time regeneration, significantly. Murashige Skoog (MS) medium containing combinations PGRs exhibited a marked stimulatory effect on morphogenesis. Of tried, explant pretreated with thidiazuron (TDZ; 5.0 µM) 4 weeks followed transfer into MS 1.0 μM 6-benzyladenine (BA) 0.25 α-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) was reported be best treatment as it resulted in maximum number 24.5 shoots average shoot length 7.1 cm per 90% cultures after 12 incubation. The vitro-generated rooted satisfactorily adopted ex vitro method rooting, which saves time cost. Among different treatments, greatest rooting percentage (85%) observed 200 IBA-treated shoots, highest root (8.7) (3.4 cm) occurring weeks. Four months being transferred vitro, some physiological attributes vitro-propagated were examined compared plants.
